In this special, breakup episode, Leanna and co-host, Jared, talk about how to actually survive a breakup. Leanna shares a detailed story of an ex-boyfriend, including Christmas with the family, weird make-out voices, getting cold feet, falling in love and then getting her heart-broken. She shares the decisions she made during the breakup that were healthy and the many decisions she made that were not healthy, possibly including some light stalking. Jared also remarks about some past experiences, as well as, his continued healing and moving forward from his recent breakup. The two then share some ideas about how to persevere through a breakup, including some self-care tools and some what-not-to-do's, and talk about when you might know you're ready to move on and start dating again. Leanna and Jared also catch up and share recent stories of online dating experiences, the two have a conversation about how they feel about actually getting back into real life dating, and have a deep conversation as they continue to talk about the Black Lives Matter movement, current protests, the meaning of "white privilege" and the piercing words "all lives matter". Leanna and "sidekick" Jared welcome guest, Erica Moorer, a Title IX coordinator for a major university, a certified national counselor and a trained sexual assault advocate in the state of California, to talk AGAIN about the importance of communicating consent. However, this time around, Erica focuses on how you can begin that communication from the very start, including pre-first date banter, using 21 questions to your advantage and building healthy boundaries to only communicate what you are ready for in order to feel safe.
